Don't Hold Your Breath, Froggy

The United States will sooner or later rejoin the Kyoto Protocol, even though the Bush administration still shuns the United Nations' global warming pact, French Ecology Minister Serge Lepeltier said Tuesday. "I am convinced that we are going to bring the United States into Kyoto, even if it doesn't want to," he said.
Lepeltier suggested the US federal government would be caught in a "vice".

Lest we forget, China, India and 120 other "developing" nations, all gross polluters, are exempt. And speaking of China, this is an interesting development:

China's rapid economic growth is producing a surge in emissions of greenhouse gases that threatens international efforts to curb global warming, as Chinese power plants burn ever more coal while car sales soar.
(...)(N)ew figures from Chinese government agencies confirm what energy industry executives had suspected: that coal use has actually been climbing faster in China than practically anywhere else in the world. To the extent that global warming is caused by humanity, as many scientists believe, this is a serious problem because burning coal at a power plant releases more greenhouse gases than using oil or natural gas to generate the same amount of electricity.

So let's see...even if you believe the junk science of global warming you have to be okay with one of the largest coal consumers on the globe being exempt from emission restrictions because...Why, again?

What is wrong with the French?? Even Clinton had no intention of signing it, he was just diplomatic about pretending to support it.

Gore, on the other hand, is crazy enough to sign it....
